Prop Assisting for Film and Television is an introductory course designed to teach new and prospective Prop Assistants what to expect and how to prepare for a job on a Film or Television series. This workshop will cover job classifications and responsibilities, Safety, Organizing a Prop truck, set expectations, demands, continuity, propping actors and how to properly wrap out a prop truck at the end of production. We will also offer hands on training movement of props and recreating an established props for re-shoots or insert shots.

This course will include a mix of instruction through a Power Point Presentation as well as Hands On Training in skills that are required to work as a Prop Assist in Film and Television.

- Setting up and Organizing a Prop Truck / Warehouse (aka Lockup)
- Wrapping out of a warehouse / lockup
- Hands On Training: Prepping Props before loading on a truck.
- Hands On Training: What is a Prop? Setting up a Prop Dept on Set.
- Hands On Training: Handing out props to Actors and Background talent
- Hands On Training: Re-propping for Re-shoots / Insert shots.

INSTRUCTOR
Mark Wojahn has been working in the Prop Dept department since 2000. He has worked on Films, Television Series and TV Commercials in locations from Minneapolis to Chicago and Los Angeles. He has been a member of IATSE Local 490 since 1999.

I.A.T.S.E. Local 490 invites you to attend a free ALL CREW PARTY they are hosting on Saturday Feb. 25th 7-12am at ACME Stage in Minneapolis.

This party will celebrate the talents and hard work performed in the Film and TV community of Minnesota. The event will feature a video showcase with clips from projects created in the last year, appetizers provided by Fabulous Catering, music by Mitch Thompson's Umbrella Bed and an event space sponsored by Acme Stage and Tasty Lighting.

There will be a cash bar of beer & wine and free swag bags will be given out to the first 150 attendees. We hope all crew, union and
non-union, will attend this hollywood award weekend party and come together to support the work of our hard working crew of Minnesota.

Members Meeting 

490 Members,

Business Agent Brian Simpson, will be hosting a workshop designed to help our members better understand the IATSE benefits.  The workshop will cover all three benefit accounts.  

These include:

-Health and Welfare Fund

-Annuity 

-Pension

For every union day worked crew members receive benefits.  These benefits are paid in addition to wages.  They are sent to the IATSE National Benefits Fund where they are divided in to three accounts.  

As many of you already know, you have the option to choose from four IATSE Health plans.  

But, as many do not know:

-You can also manage how your Annuity Funds are invested.

-In times of Unemployment you can withdraw some/all of your Annuity Funds

-You can qualify for a Pension (god forbid you ever choose to retire)

This workshop will help you better understand how to access and manage your benefits accounts.
